Master Thesis

Do you enjoy working with data and developing methods that bring value? Do you want to participate in research that can benefit patients around the world? Or do you have an interest in improving software implementation of algorithms that run on big data sets? Maybe security aspects of developing software intrigues you?

UMC is opening master thesis positions for 2023. We are looking for creative and motivated students with a keen interest in data science or software development. If that is you, please contact us to find a project that excites you! We have a list of project ideas across research and system development, and you will have a part in formulating the goal and methods to be used in your project.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre is a dynamic non-profit organization with the mission of improving the safety of medicines throughout the world. By managing and analyzing VigiBase, WHO’s global database of reported potential side effects of medicinal products, consisting of more than 35 million reports from patients and health care professionals in more than 150 countries, UMC has a unique role in detecting the adverse effects of medicines, for which it is recognized internationally.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a centre for international service and scientific research in the field of pharmacovigilance. We are the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, and manage the technical and operational aspects of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring since 1978.

As an independent, non-profit foundation, we support the World Health Organization, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders who share our vision of advancing medicines safety. Through research and development of new scientific methods, we explore the benefits and harms of medicines for patients, and offer products and services used by health authorities and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide.
