Volvo Cars is one of the most well-known and respected car brands in the world. Northvolt is a leading supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems, dedicated to delivering the world’s greenest lithium-ion battery. Together, we have formed a joint venture, NOVO Energy, to power the next generation of pure electric Volvo and Polestar cars.

Few industries offer as great an opportunity for career growth and personal development as the new European battery industry. In working for this joint venture, you'll not only develop skills that are highly sought after in the global automotive and industrial sector but you are also contributing to a climate-neutral way of life for future generations.

We are building a state-of-the-art Gigafactory that will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe and construction is set to begin in 2023. To make that happened we need the best to join the team early on!

We are looking for a Lead Estimator to join our in-house EPCM organization. You will play a crucial role in developing and safeguarding NOVO Energy through proper Estimating practices. You will be setting the basis of cost that will drive our commitment decisions, challenge contractor change orders by developing BOQ and MTO unique to the changes while pointing out duplicate values, and driving opportunities to reduce the Construction Capex. You will also be responsible of the consultants or other estimating support required to provide the project estimates, including the cost, timeline and quality of such support.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review, update and administer Construction Capex estimates through AACEI estimate classification levels 5-3. Updates shall be controlled such as to produce a clear Plan of Record with itemized changes and resulting impact on the estimates.
  • Support the project teams in updating and compiling the detailed (AACEI estimate classification levels 2 & 1) Capex estimates.
  • Review & Compare Value Opportunities with Engineering and Project Execution teams to deliver value improvements in all parts of the Construction Capex.
  • Control NOVO Energy Construction Cost Indexes (raw materials, engineering products/commodities, any other relevant labor and capital indices) and update centrally and ensure all are using the most up to date versions
  • Review and comment vendor/contractor tenders in relation to the bill of quantities and Swedish AMA coding structure versus NOVO Energy approved estimated values.
  • Provide the Project execution team with estimates in relation to change request in relation to works not considered in the original scope estimated values.
  • Track and document estimate revisions aligned with the Engineering BOQ and MTO updates.
