Northvolt has an exciting job offer for Production Engineer Welding Technology to join our Cell Assembly team in Västerås.

About the job
As a Production Engineer, you will participate in and drive projects, investigation and actions with the purpose to solve problems and increase efficiency in manufacturing. You will be participating in the optimization of current equipment and play an important role in solving quality problems.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analyse and evaluate production processes to maximise productivity of processes, machinery and workers (reducing downtime, lowering cost and ensuring safety) specifically on welding processes.
  • Initiate and drive problem solving workshops by using methods like DoE, 5W and 8D.
  • Analyse process quality, cost and output performance (by using tools like SPC) in order to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement supporting systems and equipment to improve manufacturing reliability and output.
  • Support in the development and modification of process documentation (BOP, FMEA and Control Plans).
  • Create and modify standard operation procedures and work instructions.
  • Support in skill development of operators, technicians and maintenance personnel.
  • Participate in and drive projects for new equipment.

About the team

The team of production engineers in cell assembly is based in Västerås Labs, where we develop the equipment and processes towards volume release. You will contribute to this by taking ownership on technology development for welding processes and create the optimized value stream together with your colleagues.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Bachelor or master’s degree, ideally, Laser welding, Mechanical Engineering, Battery technology and Energy Storage Electrical- or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in highly automated production
  • Experience from industries like, batteries, automotive, semiconductors or electronics
  • Strong knowledge of automated welding processes, like laserwelding, resistance- or ultrasonic welding.
  • Ability to understand Yield, OEE, continuous improvement work and cost reduction
  • Experience in operating standardized documents and error prove methods for battery manufacturing operation
  • Knowledge regarding problem solving methods and root cause analysis techniques. SixSigma Green/black belt certified is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with production- and document management systems (MES, PLM, Sharepoint)
  • Experience in process improvement / investment in new equipment / process monitoring / troubleshooting / on-site management support / participation in new projects, etc.
