Purchasing Specialist Indirect Germany

Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Purchasing Specialist Indirect to help build our passionate Supply Chain team in Heide, Germany. We are establishing our future Gigafactory in Heide and with joining us you will play an important part from the very beginning in building one of our large-scale European battery factories supporting Northvolt and our customers in the transformation to a carbon free society.

About the job
As the Purchasing Specialist Indirect you have an exciting opportunity to work across many categories. You will drive the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services to ensure operational requirements are met, considering price, quality, delivery, supplier performance and availability. You will work in close collaboration with our group’s Indirect Purchasing team to ensure pooling of demand and leveraging of frame contracts. In this role, you will be reporting to the local Director of Supply Chain Management and be part of both, the Site Supply Chain team as well as Northvolt’s Equipment & Indirect team. The role is currently based in Hamburg with traveling to Heide and other Nortvholt sites and suppliers when needed.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the overall site with purchasing activities including understanding the consolidated needs, finding the right suppliers, negotiating, and putting suitable agreements in place
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and suppliers on new projects, supply contracts and cost optimization initiatives
  • Develop procurement plan/schedule for the site to develop a suitable supplier base, bundle needs within the site and across sites, and ensure timely provision of goods and services
  • Create purchase orders, frame agreements, and catalogs for the purchase of goods and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery target
  • Communicate with suppliers to follow-up on purchase orders and resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
  • In cooperation with strategic purchasing monitor market trends, competitor strategies and supplier market

About the candidate

From your education and professional career to date you;

  • Have several years of experience in Indirect Procurement across categories, ideally in an industrial or automotive manufacturing environment
  • Learned to engage with internal stakeholders and drive early involvement through a combination of subject matter expertise and service orientation
  • Master the collaboration in a matrix organization and have effectively represented your site in central supplier and category strategies
  • Have successfully cultivated supplier networks and built supplier relationships with the objective to establish long-term partnerships
