We are looking for a driven Construction Engineering Manager (Site Infrastructure) to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Construction Design team based in Stockholm. By joining us, you will be a key player in contributing to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job

Construction Engineering Manager (Site Infrastructure) will be responsible for ensuring the optimal design of a Northvolt Factory’s site infrastructure, master plan and utilities at the front end of the design process for all Northvolt factories.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the optimisation of the site masterplan and associated site utilities and infrastructure, including all associated modularisation and pre-fabrication and standardisation.
  • Interfacing with all internal Northvolt stakeholders to gather, understand and challenge the relevant user requirement specifications for implementation into the site infrastructure, building, and utilities’ design.
  • Generation of the building, logistics and utility design metrics for measuring the most space efficient, energy efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective design.
  • Responsible for evaluating and implementing lessons learned and continuous improvement of the site infrastructure, masterplan, and utility designs.
  • Responsible for finding suitable time-saving solutions, such as modular and prefabricated solutions and ensuring implementation of same in the projects.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications/education/experience :

  • M.Sc. or Chartered or Professional Engineer in the Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Process or Electrical engineering fields.

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the design/engineering of heavy industrial, manufacturing, or chemical process facilities. Battery factory experience is ideal, but not required. Other facility types that are seen as relevant and welcome: automotive, datacentre, oil and gas, mineral refining, pharmaceutical, food & beverage manufacturing, etc.

  • Have experience in multi-disciplinary engineering coordination, interfacing with construction and internal/external stakeholders

  • Experience working on international industrial projects and in multi-cultural environments.

  • Experience in commissioning and start-up of industrial facilities.

Specific skills:

  • Fluency in English
  • Valuable (but not required) if fluency in other languages, including Swedish

  • Familiarity with standard office and management software tools and platforms

  • Familiarity with CAD, BIM, and 3D modelling type software tools

  • Ability to lead a team through technical and planning challenges
