Northvolt‘s journey started in Västerås, Sweden with Northvolt Labs, a prototyping factory that is now in operation. The first phase of our first giga-factory - Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå - has recently begun manufacturing, while further expansion projects have already kicked off. In Poland we have broken ground on which a new Northvolt Systems assembly plan will be constructed. Northvolt's joint venture with Volvo has been announced and apart from Gothenburg we're also looking to build something big in Germany, where the bulk of our OEM customers sit. We are also working hard on the second coming of Kvarnsveden in Borlänge as we're turning it into a new kind of factory. In joining us you will play an important part from the very start, building the landscape of first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play a significant role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

We have an awesome job offer for a Senior Category Manager to join our excellent and passionate team at Northvolt in Stockholm. As a key player in the Logistics Design & Procurement team you will have the opportunity to design our logistics flows and ensure successful procurement and implementation, enabling Northvolt’s successful growth in Sweden, Poland, Germany and beyond.

Your assignments will vary across different stages of our development, but will be primarily based on logistics design and infrastructure. You will represent and act as a link between Northvolt Logistics development, design and procurement and various local, regional, national and international infrastructural and logistical forums and partners, e.g. carriers, forwarders, external warehouse operators, ports, rail networks, public regulators, authorities, NGOs etc.

You will regularly be the one of the first members of the greater Planning & Logistics team involved in new Northvolt production locations - from site selection through factory layout and design/setup of logistics flows.

In broad terms and without going into too much detail, Team Planning and Logistics looks after everything that moves or needs to be stored. Before it does, we also need to do quite a bit of planning, but that's a separate story.

Our job is:

  • to support Northvolt’s mission, growth and expansion with quality planning and logistics design
  • to build a scalable operational and organisational framework, within which Northvolt units execute and
  • to enable a sustainable, resilient and efficient supply chain

First and foremost - you are a supply chain professional at heart. You understand the primary importance of quality of service that logistics delivers to the organisation and its customers. Ideally, you have a background in the designing of logistics flows to and from production sites across all modalities - with particular merit in rail and short sea experience.

Your procurement, development and logistics design assignments have allowed you to gain a full-scope view on the many complexities involved in designing and setting up logistics flows for brown- and greenfield developments. You have also participated in projects where provision of logistical services required capital investments in infrastructure and real estate and you are not a stranger to understanding the timelines of such projects.
Ideally, you have had a chance to experience all of the above in an environment of very quick growth, where not always are you in possession of all the information you'd wish for and where data at hand may be incomplete.
At Northvolt, we grow at a high pace. Having shipped only parcels just 3 years ago, we will very soon move tens of thousands of container loads per annum, across various geographies.

It's pretty amazing, right?

Together with the Team, in your job you will:

  • assess infrastructural readiness and provide logistical input into future Northvolt site selection projects
  • represent logistics in site design forums and processes where upcoming Northvolt factories are planned in detail
  • liaise with colleagues and stakeholders to gather all relevant business requirement information necessary for a successful logistics development and procurement process
  • create market transparency and successfully scout and source suitable vendors and service providers

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
