Our tech department

As an Engineering Manager in Schibsted Marketplaces Denmark’s tech department you will be working in a highly skilled tech department consisting of Backend, Frontend, iOS, Android, QA engineers and Engineering Managers. Our tech department works in autonomous, self-organising teams called squads. The squads are cross-functional and include both tech-, product-, analytics-, and UX competencies. Referring to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team of engineers consisting of 6-8 colleagues working in a cross functional squad.

We offer a hybrid workplace environment with great flexibility and ability to work from home some days each week.

Primary work assignments

You will help support our vision and business OKRs (goal setting framework with focus on outcomes) by ensuring that the right mix of people and competencies are present in the team, and by guiding and coaching teams on OKR execution in facilitating their OKR process. You will develop your team members’ skills and careers ensuring high-performing and satisfied employees. You have an agile mindset and take pride in empowering teams to make decisions with agile ways of working. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for hiring, on/off boarding, performance management, calibrating and participating in developing best practices around management processes.

Professional skills

You are motivated by working with self-organising teams who are empowered to make their own business decisions. The person we are looking for has experience in working with team management or tech leadership of both knowledge workers and junior engineers.

Other relevant qualifications:

  • Empowering employees through mandate and trust to make confident decisions within the given context

  • Understand and make use of coaching & mentoring methodologies

  • Mastering agile principles, having experience in working with agile methodologies and understanding leadership in that context

  • Experience in facilitating workshops and sessions in a team context e.g. to ensure good decision making

  • Experience in managing performance in relation to rating, calibration, and feedback

  • Administrative people management tasks like expense reimbursements, leave handling, etc.
