Job Description

About the Sales Director

You will lead a hungry, fast-moving sales team and help us achieve our growth goals throughout Japan. Reporting to the VP, North Asia Area, you will be responsible for developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans, as well as hiring, developing and leading a high-performing team of new business developers, account managers and strategic account leaders to meet and exceed sales goals.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who has experience and passion in selling SaaS B2B solutions to enterprises and has a proven track record in software sales. This is an exciting opportunity to influence Meltwater’s overall success and growth.

This role will be based in Tokyo and require Japanese and English speaking skills.

What will you be doing?

  • Drive the growth of a fast-paced region within our business by 50% within 24 months

  • Lead a team of sales staff

  • Drive, manage and execute revenue goals

  • Recruiting and hiring top talent onto your team

  • Developing sales and territory plans

  • Working closely with marketing to ensure strong market penetration

  • Leading by example - the Sales Director will set the standard, demonstrate hard work and hold their team to account on similar standards. They’ll be a steward of Meltwater’s values and ensure that their team embodies these values

Skills & Requirements

We’re looking for...

  • 7+ years experience in a SaaS sales environment (business development highly preferred)

  • At least 2 years experience leading a successful sales team

  • High potential leader with strong track record of success developing people and building teams in a high growth SaaS company

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) in both English and Japanese

  • The ability to explain the why behind the work the sales team does

  • Entrepreneurial mindset

  • Experience in Change Management and leading change initiatives

  • Analytical and data driven across a variety of sales & business metrics
