Meltwater has a strong Professional Services and Solutions Engineering team that provides our enterprise customers with the highest quality solutions tailored to their specific needs. We are looking for a Solutions Sales Engineer based in Japan to join our brilliant and motivated Solutions Engineering team. In this exciting role you will work closely with and have an immediate impact on the Meltwater customer base.
The solutions we build are fully web-based and offered as a service. The technology portfolio ranges from Angular in the frontend, Node Js in the backend, powered by MySQL/PostgreSQL/MongoDB, ElasticSearch and Kafka. Our applications are deployed on cloud solutions such as AWS, Kubernetes and MongoDB Atlas designed with the principles of microservices in mind. We take great pride in the DevOps mindset and skills that allow us to manage all of these resources as a team.
In this new role in Tokyo, you will report to the Global Principal Solutions Engineer (Manager) and work closely with key enterprise customers in Japan. Japanese and English language proficiency is expected.
Work directly with enterprise clients and prospects, analysts, data professionals and technologists to understand use-cases, specific outcomes, objectives and requirements for tailored insight solutions.
Articulate, demonstrate and prove value and applicability of the Meltwater platform and capabilities of the solutions engineering team in meeting specific customer needs and use cases.
Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout all phases of the solution lifecycle - from pre-sales through ongoing delivery and usage - to identify best fit solutions, drive new opportunities, onboard customers, educate on best practices and ensure customer objectives are met.
Support solution development activities through understanding and communication of end user needs and requirements, product testing, proof of concept development and new product build/deployment. Assist with scoping of solutions.
Skills & Requirements
Required Skills And Experience
3-4 years of experience in customer-facing, consultative position, with a heavy focus on understanding customer needs and solution development.
Native level in Japanese, with excellent English in both written and spoken.
A strong analytical thinker, with a keen intuition for determining the right questions to ask of data, and knowing the tools to use to interrogate it. You would be inspired and confident to navigate complex or ambiguous problems independently.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English. Skilled in creation of presentations and leading demonstrations of solutions. A dynamic and engaging presenter.
Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of web-based platforms.
Quick thinking and comfortable working within a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
Experience working with social data and social applications such as Twitter API, Facebook pages, Facebook Audience Insights. Experience working with traditional research tools such as Experian, Simmons, Acxiom, or Nielsen.
A good working knowledge of Python to run query API’s, manipulate JSON data, blend or join disparate datasets.
Experience working with Tableau or other BI applications, building visualizations from scratch, and articulating insights.
