The R&D facility will gather leading expertise from all over the world, to create the next generation Volvo and Polestar batteries. The gigafactory will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe, with a potential annual cell production capacity of up to 50 gigawatt hours (GWh) and thereby enable a supply of batteries for approximately half a million cars per year.

You will be responsible for managing the legal matters within the NOVO Energy Group and providing Group wide ongoing legal advice to the management teams as well as other teams, make risk analysis and upholding appropriate compliance and corporate governance procedures as well as adequate procedures to protect the Group’s intellectual property rights.

You will also handle the relevant tasks included in the role independently and assumes the full responsibility in relation to the CEOs and the rest of top management, other relevant leaders throughout the business organisation and in relation to the Board of Directors. Leads complex projects and is actively engaged in driving the development of the legal organisation and drives change throughout the Group’s business organisation to ensure that the legal matters are well managed

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for proactively identifying legal risks in order to avoid / mitigate these in the organisation’s business operation or in contracts.
  • Secretary of the board (s) and engages as appropriate in relevant management team meetings driving the legal agenda.
  • Establishing and maintaining an effective compliance program covering all relevant areas and ensuring that potential compliance breaches are handled.
  • Intellectual property rights management, including processes for innovation reporting and filing of patents and other IP rights.
  • Contract drafting and negotiations.
  • Responsible for developing contract templates and relevant control documents.
  • Corporate governance.
  • Regulatory matters, including permits.
  • Data privacy matters, including the DPO role.
  • Management of external advisors.
  • Providing training and legal awareness.

The Legal Counsel will become a vital member of the team, reporting to the CEO.

Skills & Requirements

Education and experience

  • A relevant university degree is required (Master of Law).
  • Professional proficiency in English and Swedish is required.
  • Wide business law expertise, with extensive experience in handling and leading complicated legal projects and business transactions. Preferably also industrial experience from a business involving complex operational projects, sourcing and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in a management role.
  • Very good negotiating skills.
