Northvolt has an exciting offer for an Equipment Engineer to join our cylindrical cell manufacturing team based in Västerås, Sweden. In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

If selected, you will oversee designing, developing, deploying and validating automated manufacturing equipment in one or several defined process areas of cylindrical cell production. You will play an important role to interface with equipment suppliers and to collaborate with Northvolt process and factory design teams to efficiently integrate the process, equipment, and factory.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :

  • Developing equipment specifications with process engineering team as well as identifying, addressing, and resolving equipment and process concerns
  • Taking ownership of the relationship with machine builders and system integrators
  • Being responsible for functionality, stability, uptime of automated manufacturing equipment and lines
  • Optimizing equipment performance with statistical process control and data driven analytics
  • The introduction of new product on the equipment
  • Ensuring that the machine is complying to relevant Swedish laws
  • Developing and reviewing project planning documents such as project timelines, RFI/RFQs, FMEAs, Safety Risk Assessments, PM schedules, Requirements/Specifications, and Key Equipment Parameters

About the team:

You will interact with many members of the cylindrical cell team during your daily routine. The team of engineers across manufacturing and cell design are working towards industrializing high volume production of a family of cylindrical cells in the next years.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • MSc degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of work experience in battery industry or chemical industry
  • Excellent English written and oral skills

Bonus points for:

  • Knowledge of the CE directives (Machinery, Low Voltage, EMC, Pressure Vessel) and/or ATEX
  • Knowledge in battery manufacturing processes and equipment especially electrolyte filling machines
