At Northvolt we are very excited about the possibilities on offer as we set out to convert the Kvarnsveden site, and its honourable industrial heritage, into a modern production facility enabling the energy transition.

For that endeavour we are bringing together a stellar team of individuals who are equally excited, and who jointly represent the full set of skills needed for such a giga-scale task. This certainly includes a senior finance leader, ideally with a local connection, which is what what we are currently searching for.

About the job
As Director of Business Control for Kvarnsveden you will be a critical member of the management team, and you will bring a finance perspective to the the full set of tasks, focusing on planning, execution and follow up - initially for the investment project and later on for the operation and business.

In matters related to Accounting and Financing you will work closely with the central finance function, who support in day-to-day accounting and who provides expertise in areas such as IFRS, treasury, tax, and project financing.

As the project and operation expand, you will build and develop the local finance team to manage controlling tasks best carried out on-site.

Our organisational setup is matrix-like, and you will act both as the finance business partner to the local Site Manager, and as extension of the central CFO-organisation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the financial follow up of our investment project, which is both multi-year, and multi-billion USD
  • Keep a clear-eyed perspective on spend, profitability & working capital to secure long-term value creation
  • Participate in reviewing and refining the business case as we progress in the overall strategy
  • Join and support key commercial negotiations
  • Contribute as a member of the senior management team covering all parts of Northvolts future operations at Kvarnsveden
  • Set up local routines, allowing the site and entity to fully leverage our centralized resources in areas like accounting, accounts payable, etc

Skills & Requirements

In order to succeed in this role we believe you have:

  • 5-10 years of experience in Finance and/or controlling positions. Probably you have also led others in such tasks.
  • Sector-specific knowledge in construction, manufacturing, or adjacent industries
  • Confidence and ability to build strong and challenging working relations with Commercial and Technical teams
  • Experience of leading cross-functional project teams working on major undertakings
  • Experience from project finance or other financing structures is a merit
  • Relevant degree in Finance or Engineering
  • Curious, technically minded with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Exceptionally good problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish language skills is a plus but not a requirement
  • Personal qualities that we cherish are flexibility, sense of quality, friendliness, motivation to take on new challenges, grit and a sense of humour
