The Role:

The Manager, Content Operations role puts you in the middle of significant strategic planning and business development issues relating to Meltwater's global content partnerships. You will work across the company with leaders from our sales, product, finance and engineering teams, to achieve value added outcomes for all company content plans.

The role requires a strong focus on teamwork and collaborative exploration and decision-making. It will help you build valuable business acumen, allowing you to develop very quickly in ways that few other positions offer, learning about business by being on the front line of strategy and operations.

Specific Details:

  • Reports to the Head of Content Strategy and Partnerships;
  • Based in Redwood Shores, CA. Some work also in company headquarters in San Francisco;
  • Responsible for developing and managing key financial and operational metrics for content and data partnerships;
  • Responsible for assisting in the development of new partnership plans and strategies and determining the value provided through existing partnerships;
  • Instrumental in working across all major operational groups (sales, finance, product and engineering) to ensure that content and data partnerships are optimized to meet company objectives;
  • Key role in managing partnerships related expenses and impact on COGS;
  • Assist in negotiations of new agreements and/or restructuring or cancellation of existing partnerships;
  • Responsible for content budget proposals, updates, and management of partnerships and accompanying costs;
  • Responsible for monthly reporting and analysis of partnership costs, growth, and qualitative role in sales strategy;
  • No direct reports;
  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly deliverables will be agreed upon at start of quarter as they relate to the above KPI’s.

Specific Functions:

  • Combine financial and data analysis and creative thinking to develop the best approach for content sales optimization;
  • Use data to prioritize when we create/update content and recommend strategies to make our content more effective;
  • Propose pricing & packaging options to drive simplicity and cost efficiencies in content sales;
  • Review data and content plans with marketing, product, legal and engineering teams;
  • Track key KPIs to measure content effectiveness and develop improvement plans as needed;
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with marketing, legal, engineering, & product teams;
  • Communicate status regularly to Head of Content and provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports summarizing progress of the above.

Skills & Requirements

Experience and Requirements:

  • 7-10 years experience in monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions;
  • Strong background in financial modeling and project management of P&L functions;
  • Strong capacity and passion to problem solve and diagnose mission critical issues;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. This role will interface with major internal stakeholders and also work directly with major partners;
  • BA/BS degree in finance and or business operations.
