What you’ll be doing
Concept Artists at Liquid Swords explore, express, and inspire the vision for our mature and character-driven AAA new IP. More than that - this is a significant hire at the early stage of the project and will have a significant influence on the development of the visual tone of the Design, Narrative and World of this mysterious place.
Your grasp of environments, architecture, composition, light, and colour, plus a personal obsession with pushing boundaries and inspiring the extraordinary, is what will make you shine on the project. Your ideas, paintovers, and communication skills will help produce amazing gameplay experiences for the player.
Liquid Swords’ Concept Artists are bold visionaries that sharpen their skills daily with various tools and techniques while leveraging the in-engine power and flexibility of Unreal Engine 5. You will join a small team headed by a principal veteran of the industry along with another artist focusing on the Characters, Factions and NPCs of our open world.
This role will be a key collaborator to the visual development of our fictional and contemporary world filled with mystery, storytelling and variety. Where the world is a distinct character with its own personality and mood.
Joining our team now, means that you will be a part of creating video games history, working on the early concept of our next-generation action packed open-world experience.
Develop high quality concept art congruent with the artistic direction and vision of the game
Researcher of various subjects, styles, and inspirations to inform and support visual development
Concept style guides, creative briefs and fidelity benchmarks for the team and outsourcing partners
You are obsessive and passionate about narrative and world-building with the goal of gameplay and a shared experience with the player.
You have a strong understanding of ambience, tone, and a sense of how to invoke narrative and story-telling through art
You create original and awe-inspiring environments, with consideration of realization and communication to the team.
Familiarity with 3D Software (Blender, Modo, Maya, 3DS Max, Houdini)
You have shipped games in the AAA space

Liquid Swords was founded in 2020 by Christofer Sundberg, founder and formerly Chief Creative Officer of Avalanche Studios. The studio is backed financially by Christofer Sundberg and a group of private investors. Our approach to game development is (by games industry standards) a small-studio approach, where our team members contribute with entrepreneurship in their respective field of expertise. The team at Liquid Swords have worked on numerous multi-million selling franchises in the past and their experience and talent will define our roadmap to success.
