We are looking for a trainee Data Engineer to join our Technology department based in Arendal. As a leading global provider of property and casualty insurance for marine businesses, the volume and demands for data are exploding. We need a Trainee Data Engineer to help us integrate, build, and support our rapidly expanding business to enable us to make the best data-driven decisions. Together with the rest of the team, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, modernizing, overseeing, and monitoring data retrieval, storage, and distribution securely and efficiently throughout our global organization using up to date tooling in Azure.

Skills & Requirements
- Help us improve our existing systems to handle new business needs driven by our organization and industry
- Create innovative solutions to ensure our business stays competitive
- Continuously update the Gard technology stack
- Construct efficient data-flows cloud-to-cloud and from on-prem data sources
- Extract and ingest raw data to the data lake from a wide range of sources
- Hold a Master or bachelor’s degree in computer science or in a comparable subject
- Have skills and be interested in modern technologies, Azure data factory, deployment pipelines, and a range of other technologies and modern database-platforms
- Having previous experience from insurance or the financial industry is a bonus
- Have good written and oral skills in English
- Be innovative, proactive, and creative combined with being result and business oriented
- Have a strong interest in and understanding of digital opportunities and how they can contribute to improve Gard's performance
- Collaborative, analytical and business oriented
