Startup Partner:Peach Cars

Peach Tech Limited aims to revolutionize the way cars are bought and sold across Africa.

They've launched a marketplace purpose-built to connect buyers and sellers of used cars in Kenya in new and exciting ways, but have their sights set on bigger and better things:

  1. leveraging cutting-edge technology,
  2. robust offline operations, and
  3. customer service excellence

From these, the aim is to build an ecosystem around buying, selling, owning and maintaining cars in Africa and prove to the African customer that they deserve - and can have - more!

Engagement Description

The used car game is supply-driven, and Peach Cars' ability to achieve its growth targets is and will only increasingly be constrained by its ability to tap into and (preferably) control supply. Access to clean cars at preferential prices means that the efforts they've put in to build demand will not go to waste.

Their supply pipeline at present is multichannel, and they have some hypotheses about how they can achieve their aim of being “The first port of call for anyone in Kenya who wants to sell their car” though they are a ways away from realizing this.

Therefore, Peach Cars are at a unique point their the development and growth trajectory wherein they have a need for a skilled early to mid-career professional to join them to help scope out, prioritize and then execute on a number of strategic projects.

The successful candidate would work with internal and external stakeholders to understand the supply side of the used vehicles market here in Kenya and generate a clear strategy for winning this side of the market, including tactical recommendations - operational, product, financial and otherwise.

The initial terms of engagement will be a time-bound, three (3) month contract aligning with the Venture for Africa Fellowship. However, all project efforts are intentionally scoped to act as an introduction to Peach and lay the foundation for a full-time role with them in a thematic area (as described below).

The successful fellow can expect to transition into the full-time role of “Head of Supply”
