We are looking for an experienced and hands on Team Lead - Equipment Engineering to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Manufacturing Equipment Engineering team based in Stockholm. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing and running prototype manufacturing equipment and contribute to building a world class prototyping facility for Battery Systems.

About the Job

A typical day for a Team Lead – Equipment at Northvolt covers many varied activities, and no two days are the same! You’re primary tasks will focus around our existing prototyping equipment. This will involve supporting the resolution downtime events of the equipment, upgrades based on new product or process requirements, managing priorities and spending for the team. Additionally, a new line will arrive, and you will work with our project team to provide input during the design phase, deliver in built designed stations and enable the installation of equipment.

Team Lead - Equipment Engineering

As a Team Lead you are expected to be able to support the team with setting objectives and priorities, supporting with execution and escalate when needed. In addition to this, you will be working in an agile work environment and collaborate with multiple teams to achieve what is needed, which will allow opportunities for impact and learning. Under your leadership we aim to maintain a cohesive team that works together effectively to maximise the potential of the Equipment pre-series team.

About the Team

As a part of the broader equipment team, you will be responsible for the pre-series equipment development. You will also work collaboratively with the wider manufacturing team to enable the product development. The team consists of three manufacturing engineers who all are based in Stockholm.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading a small team of equipment engineers
  • Managing an existing prototype assembly lines equipment tasks
  • Supporting new line and equipment delivery
  • Contribute to building business process’ and tools to support equipment engineering activities

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • Fluent English with strong communication skills
  • BSc or MSc degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience within new equipment development and manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with evolving products, processes, and equipment from prototype scales to production scale in a fast-growing environment
  • Has a can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Leadership and influencing skills

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in the following fields:
  • Cylindrical and prismatic cell module and pack assembly
  • Laser sources, optical setups, laser process monitoring equipment
  • Dispensing systems for adhesives, sealants, thermal interface materials
  • Production line sensors including profilometers, vision systems
  • Leak testing systems
  • Electrical or battery testing systems
  • Fluency in other languages (Polish, Swedish, German, Chinese)
