Following the successful launch of reMarkable 2, which was named one of TIME's top 100 inventions of 2020, and our new subscription service, Connect, in 2021, we've set exciting growth and product development goals for the coming year. About the role

reMarkable has two main web applications. At reMarkable.com we showcase our products to the world and it is where our new products will be launched and sold globally. It is also our biggest and most important sales channel by far, with more than 1.5 million users a month. On my.reMarkable.com, we engage with our users. This is the hub for connecting our device to the cloud – expanding its functionality – and where users manage their accounts and subscriptions. We are looking for a frontend developer to help us take these applications to the next level, both in terms of stunning visuals and a great user experience, as well as stability and performance.

While we are closing in on 100 developers at reMarkable, we are only three dedicated frontend developers so this is the time to join if you want to take a key role in shaping how we work with frontend in reMarkable going forward. You will collaborate with dedicated colleagues in cross-functional teams, following agile working methodologies. We are running on a modern headless web stack, consisting of Next, React, Redux, Typescript, Sentry, Tailwind, Sanity, GCP, logistics platforms, and e-commerce solutions. The Store teams have strong ownership of all technologies used and as reMarkable expands and grows, we continually evaluate and evolve both the technologies used and our way of working. You will be an integral part of this work.

Further tasks and responsibilities

  • Implementing stunning ways of displaying our products and vision on reMarkable.com

  • Implementing new features and maintaining my.reMarkable.com

  • Working alongside designers to achieve engaging and user-friendly customer experiences

  • Ensuring stability through types, unit testing, E2E testing and visual regression testing

  • Optimizing page performance KPIs such as load time

  • Leading discussions related to architecture, technology and frameworks

  • Contributing to a great developer experience by always leaving code in a better condition than when you found it

  • Strongly affect how we build up frontend as a discipline

  • Contributing to a learning environment and mentoring other developers

  • Sharing knowledge within the team (i.e. code reviews), and with other developers in reMarkable (i.e. weekly department unit meetings)

  • Implementing a design system

  • Sanity architecture

  • Optimize frontend framework after migration to Next

  • Animation framework

  • A/B testing, feature flags and better user-tracking

  • Plan and execute launching new products & features

We believe you are/have some of the following:

  • Preferably 5+ years of professional development experience

  • Good knowledge of JavaScript/Typescript, ES6+, HTML and CSS

  • Experience with React

  • Ability to lead by example

  • Coaching skills/experience leading others

  • Experience working with design systems is a plus
