We are looking for a dynamic sales manager who would enjoy the challenge of selling impactful technology that helps kids learn maths and English!

Sumdog's Mission
We aim to narrow the attainment gap by helping every child reach their full potential. Sumdog's games-based maths & English practice & assessment apps are used by primary and middle school pupils in the UK and USA. Sumdog is unique in the way it engages even the most disenchanted pupils.

We're at the forefront of an exciting data-driven ed-tech revolution. We capture a detailed understanding of each child's strengths and weaknesses and use this to deliver personalised learning that identifies gaps in knowledge and closes them.
The results are spectacular. A published research study found pupils using Sumdog for just 30 minutes weekly progressed in maths fluency almost twice as fast as those who didn't.

About the role
Your key responsibilities will be:

  • close deals at a senior level with large education authorities
  • drive new business sales, by leading the new business team
  • manage sales & account management staff across the business

In Scotland nearly all schools use Sumdog, however not all subscribe to the premium edition. We have deals with many of the local authorities but not all. So there is a fantastic opportunity to negotiate deals with the remaining authorities. Our approach to sales is largely remote, however for larger local authority or US district deals, in-person meetings may be required.

As Sumdog's Head of Sales, you will report to the Sales & Marketing director.
Every time the new business team wins a new school, that's hundreds more children whose education is positively impacted. In this role, you can truly change the future of the next generation!

Skills & Requirements

Must have experience of

  • managing sales teams
  • selling to large organisations
  • data-driven approaches to sales & marketing management

Beneficial to have experience of

  • selling to schools
  • selling to local authorities, MATs, or US districts
  • selling a SaaS product
  • sales & marketing in a technology business
  • digital marketing and the use of data to measure marketing campaign effectiveness
  • working in an SME.

Personal qualities

  • strong communicator - both written and verbal
  • self-starter with drive and determination
  • a systematic approach to team planning
  • strong personal integrity, honesty and openness when dealing with others
  • happy to work on delivery of targets
