We’re looking for a passionate visual designer to join our team, as we scale our retail presence globally.

reMarkable is a Norwegian tech company that develops products and services to help people think better in a distracted world. In a short amount of time, we’ve grown from a small startup to having over 200 permanent employees and two fantastic offices in central Oslo.

Following the successful launch of our second-generation paper tablet, which has been named as one of TIME's "100 Best Innovations of 2020", we’re facing new challenges and opportunities as we expand into the global arena.

That’s why we’re currently looking for a visual designer to help us shape our brand and broaden our presence within retail as we grow into a truly global business. Are you a team player with an eye for detail? Are you passionate about creating visual communication that delivers an excellent brand experience for physical and digital spaces? If so, we are looking for you to join our team.

Applications can be submitted in both Norwegian and English.

About the role

For this position you will be a key resource in the Retail team. You will play a central role in building Retail as a sales channel and as a new domain to explore and experience the reMarkable brand and products.

During the past 18 months reMarkable has conducted several pilots within retail partnerships and own store initiatives, the latter in cooperation with Snøhetta. After an intense learning period reMarkable is aiming to scale our retail presence globally, and very excited for the next part of our journey.

As a Visual Designer at reMarkable you will be part of Visual Design, one of six sub-departments in our Design department. Working at reMarkable you will always find yourself working with cross-functional teams with other disciplines, such as interior architects, strategists, marketers, copy writers, developers, UX designers, logistics and support staff.

In collaboration with the Retail team, you will define, develop and manage overall visual design principles for physical and digital spaces in Retail, making sure we speak the same language across all surfaces. Specific tasks could be designing the visual content for our product displays, in-store material or packaging, as well as digital content such as emails, training material, ads for social media or content marketing. A varied set of tasks and responsibilities where no day will be the same, as we embark on our global mission.

Who are you?

We value passion for the retail experience and that you find it exciting to explore strategic moves that help us achieve our goals while still keeping it on brand. At reMarkable, we always want to test, learn and improve. Therefore, we work in continuous and iterative processes based on insight, data and professional hypotheses. We hope you feel the same way.

You’re experienced with designing and adapting content for physical and digital surfaces. You have in-depth knowledge of the print design process from sketch concept to completion and can provide vendors and printers with production ready files. You are also experienced with designing and adapting content to various digital surfaces, and value the importance of creating a consistent expression across platforms. You’re used to working within established brand guidelines, but you’re also comfortable with bringing your own ideas to the table.

You’ve got an eye for details and a strong aesthetic sense. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and can efficiently deliver high quality visual output. It’s important for you to work in an engaging workplace that gives you opportunity to grow, and that offers you a solid career path.

You take ownership of the projects you work on, and can argue for your choices and ensure the quality of the work along the way. You are independent and comfortable following a process from start to finish, but you'll collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization along the way.

All this being said; what's most important to us is finding authentic and accountable people who feel connected to our mission and values, not just candidates who check off all the boxes. What counts is that you thrive on creating engaging visual communication for our potential customers.

Desired qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of higher design education (experience can compensate).

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience.

  • Good technical understanding of the print design process from sketch concept to completion and can provide vendors and printers with production ready files.

  • Experience with design for product displays, signage, in-store material, merchandise, etc.

  • Experience with ad design for social media platforms, and design for content marketing such as email, organic content for social media, etc.

  • Some experience with design for e-commerce or other online sales channels.

  • Well acquainted with the Adobe package and Figma (or similar tools)

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
