For social robots, the time is now: they are no longer 'science fiction'. All over the world - in universities and research labs as well as in schools, hospitals, airports, shops, offices, hotels, and more - social robots are being explored and deployed today to help people lead better lives, support employees, delight customers, and add value to businesses as well as new insights to researchers. Humans are entering a new era where talking to machines, and interacting with them in our most natural ways (as if they were a person) is becoming 'normal'. But it's still early days in this revolution. The rules are still being written, and the road ahead is wide open. Furhat Robotics has established itself as a global leader in telling the story of social robotics, and this is where you come in.
We have recently won a major project in the Middle East with an incredibly exciting and ambitious scope and a huge impact on the industry, and humanity at large. We call it the 'Apollo Mission' of Social Robotics! We are now looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead this initial 1-year project, and be responsible for a successful delivery and client relationship to ensure a continued project for the coming years.
You will work alongside our experienced management team and colleagues from our offices in Stockholm and Boulder, Colorado, and build a strong network of stakeholders, and allies, both within the client organisation, and the global community.
By joining Furhat, you will be in the driving seat of bringing new and exciting technology to the market, and take social robotics further than any other project has ever done before. By leading this project, you will also be part of one of the most exciting projects that humanity is undertaking right now - pushing the boundaries and progress of every aspect of human life, and providing the most ambitious project to date to bring social robots to everyone's daily life.
As the Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Set the overall project strategy and plan, and align this with both the client and required team members within Furhat
- Build and continuously update knowledge of the complex client organisation, decision makers, and continue to explore new opportunities with new contacts within the client's team
- Drive recruitment of additional team members to appropriately staff the project with the best talent available
- Be the main point of contact for our client team and coordinate all communication from Furhat and our partners
- Plan, facilitate and follow up on meetings and workshops, both remotely and on the ground.
- Plan and oversee the execution of multiple pilots onsite in Saudi Arabia, likely by being onsite yourself
- Shape the strategy and plan for a project extension following the 1st year, and pitch and negotiate this with support from our CEO
Skills & Requirements
To be an ideal candidate, you must have:
- Be available to start asap, and latest early May
- +8 years experience in technical project management with external clients
- Experience of working with emerging technology, preferably hardware
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Be willing to travel multiple times in the coming year, and be able to stay 1-2 weeks at a time
- Ability to recruit and build teams
- Experience working in multi-cultural and global projects
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong interpersonal skills and feel comfortable interacting and presenting to very senior client stakeholders
- Experience in preparing and giving presentations and demonstrations in English, both virtually and physically
- Previous experience in negotiating and closing major deals
It would be great if you also have:
- Native/bilingual proficiency in English
- Experience of working towards the Middle East
- Previous experience working with startups
- Experience working with robots or conversational systems
- Knowledge in Arabic
