We, Schibsted News Media, are looking for a leader to join us as Director of Data. In this role, you will be a key player in driving Schibsted News Media’s data strategy and road map, as well as Schibsted’s ambitious overarching data strategy. You will establish, lead and grow a business-critical team of data professionals ranging from project managers to data engineers. You will collaborate with key stakeholders in the News Media environment ranging from top management to hands-on data engineers, product managers, and designers. Not only will you have contact points towards all of News Media, but you will also be a key player in the larger Schibsted data network.
You will report to the CTO/CDO within the Schibsted News Media organisation.
Your main responsibilities include:
Lead the work to define and execute Schibsted News Media’s data strategy
Be tactically and operationally responsible for data in the Schibsted News Media landscape - driving and executing the News Media data roadmap and priorities
Have manager responsibility for data engineers and professionals in the central News Media data organisation - a team that you will be a key part of defining and growing
Lead cross-functional teams and forums with the purpose of assuring fit for purpose data- and data processes across News Media
Align with key data stakeholders all over Schibsted to ensure tactical collaboration and strategic alignment cross teams and divisions
Be part of the News Media-Tech Management team and partner with the tech organisation to clarify demand, build requirements for data and application development infrastructure necessary to facilitate efficient analytics development
Help define critical commercial and operational data elements and focus the build-up of data capabilities centred around those elements
As part of your daily work, you will:
Collaborate closely with product & engineering teams to achieve the goals set out in the data strategy and roadmap
Lead strategic projects to ensure that News Media is forward-leaning and have fit for purpose capabilities in the data area
Lead tactical projects to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance, among many other things
Help optimising activities of data analytics and data warehousing
Help optimising data sciences activities in order to ensure alignment with business goals and strategies across News Media

Your skills & experiences:
You are a leader who has experience in establishing and growing a team and managing its success in a fast-moving environment
You have a detailed understanding of data governance, data management processes, and data visualisation tools
You have a documented background and experience in data science or engineering
You have solid experience in the project- and stakeholder management in data- and tech environments
You are comfortable working in an agile environment, and more importantly, you are comfortable working in a cross-functional team environment
You have strong analytical skills and a structured and process-oriented way of working
It’s an advantage if you have:
A passion for metrics, monitoring and code "transparency"
Experience with any of the following areas: AWS, Kubernetes, and large scale data pipelines
Experience with shipping SDKs or library code to real users (e.g. open source projects)
Thoughts on API design and semantic versioning
