HOW IT WORKS

  • Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.

  • Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, get plugged into the right networks, and get to understand market nuances.

  • Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startups while being paid a stipend.

  • Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for available full-time roles with the startup post the fellowship

Curacel creates APIs that enable insurers to connect with digital distribution channels and administer their claims cost-effectively.

Project Description

Curacel is looking for a sales and customer success expert who will work closely with the CEO to drive the team towards revenue growth and define new market expansion plans. In its simplest form, the role of the Growth Manager will be to understand Curacel’s business, KPIs, and help the team generate revenues by sealing partnerships with medium to large size insurers and insurance brokers in the company’s key markets.

You must develop a comprehensive understanding of the insurtech landscape, and have the ability to recommend growth strategies that will impact the bottom line.

Day-to-day activities will include leading market expansion research and presenting findings to Curacel’s leadership team, participating in partnership meetings, and assisting in business operations including leading and coordinating contract negotiations.

Above all, Curacel is looking for someone who has a proven ability to wear different hats, hack away with little direction to get things done, and someone who can think outside the box.

Project Deliverables

  • Develop, implement, and maintain sales activities and plans

  • Create and maintain the Curacel sales pipeline

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with current clients and their management teams by providing information, guidance, and support; recommending service and profit improvements; and recommending new opportunities.

  • Lead, coordinate and close contract negotiations with new and existing partners

  • Analyze sales metrics to determine whether current sales strategies are effective.

  • Collect and analyze information and prepare data and sales reports.

  • Gather feedback from customers or prospects and share it with internal teams.

Reports to: CEO

Skills & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in B2B sales and/or B2B customer success experience (preferably in an African market)

  • Experience selling enterprise software

  • Experience building trust and partnerships with interdisciplinary teams and external clients and their stakeholders

  • A high degree of digital fluency using cloud-based office tools such as GSuite, CRMs, team collaboration tools (such as Asana), and other web-based applications; ability to incorporate these tools into day-to-day work

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability to articulate and synthesize information in a compelling and organized manner

  • Self-directed individual with a value for autonomy and freedom at work. Comfortable translating high-level goals into an actionable plan and can execute with minimal oversight
