Job Description

We are looking for a (Senior) Manager, Marketing Data Strategy

This role reports to the VP Marketing Operations and is responsible for defining and owning Basware’s Sales and Marketing Global data strategy.

You will have several years of relevant experience, be familiar with the data landscape and be able to drive and optimise a data-first approach across different stakeholder groups in the organisation as well as having both a global and local overview of sources of data and how to combine for best effect.

We seek a passionate, inquisitive, and hands-on person who is interested in not only being at the forefront of data strategies in the B2B marketing world but working cross-functionally to implement them; an expert to lead our thinking and shape best practices to help us maintain a market-leading position and grow the business with a continuous data-led approach.


  • Work with multiple stakeholder groups to understand the role of data (prospect and customer) in their part of the organisation working collaboratively to understand requirements, design tailored data strategies and implement them into Sales and Marketing platforms
  • Translate the data strategy into a realistic and agile implementation roadmap to bring it to life and deliver value, quickly – addressing prospect acquisition and customer retention and expansion.
  • Support day-to-day data governance to ensure quality and efficient use of data in the Marketing and Sales funnel.
  • Take ownership of a global data acquisition strategy and future roadmap; reviewing sources of data, how these fit together and how to deliver.
  • Play a lead role in establishing and developing best practices including internal capability development and promote a data-enabled culture in the client organisation.
  • Conduct rigorous evaluation of solutions, vendors, and opportunities to adopt and leverage data across the business
  • Create a global and local data provider architecture and integration roadmap
  • Be able to ensure the data strategy can be integrated with our technical solutions and platforms, and how this can work practically and effectively
  • Understand how the data strategy, and the output of this strategy, plays a key role in the sales and marketing function of a global B2B organisation
  • Define operational requirements and processes that put data and performance and the core of Demand Generation, Lead progression and Customer retention.

Skills & Requirements

Experience and essential core attributes

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role, or working with large volumes of Enterprise data from multiple sources in a B2B context
  • Experience and expert knowledge of global legislation (ie: GDPR) and impact on GTM strategies and solutions
  • Ability to manage and forecast significant budgets
  • Project management experience and presentation of complex roadmaps to Senior levels of the organisation.
  • Work well independently as well as part of a team, with proven ability to lead virtual globally distributed teams
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Can explain data challenges, strategies, and plans to a non-data literate audience
  • Prior experience of working with marketing automation and CRM platforms
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • People management experience beneficial
