In your childhood, did you spend your summer vacation with buddies building the largest sandcastle on the beach? Do you still enjoy today being part of interdisciplinary teams developing large and complex projects? We are looking for a seasoned procurement leader to head our Constructions and Facilities Purchasing team and strategically drive all procurement activities related to the construction and expansion of our Giga factories in Sweden and beyond. In this role, together with your team, you will be responsible to build and develop strategic and long-term partnerships with both, engineering, and construction companies, to enable our targeted growth to more than 150 GWh installed production capacity by 2030.

The position reports to the Vice President of Group Engineering, Procurement, and Construction and is a key player in the Supply Chain Management leadership

Key responsibilities

  • Design suitable contracting strategies in collaboration with the Supply Chain, Commercial, and Site Program teams for the execution of the construction works
  • Develop and implement category strategies and frame agreements for embedded materials and services to leverage our spend across projects, drive standardization, and secure supply
  • Create and maintain a pipeline of ideas supporting our ambitious objectives to improve capital productivity
  • Drive scouting, sourcing, and management of all Engineering, Construction, and Facility Management suppliers
  • Design negotiation strategies and cross-functionally lead tenders and negotiations of engineering, construction, and facilities contracts as well as frame agreements for embedded services and materials
  • Lead a growing team of construction procurement specialists and category managers for construction and facilities categories
  • Work closely with the Engineering, Commercial, Programs, Blueprint, Business Control, Supply Chain and Finance, both in sharing insights and in setting priorities and routines

Profile

You share our passion to make the world a better, cleaner place. Being a purchasing professional at heart, you not only look for the best deal but build and develop trustful long-term relationships with preferred partners to the benefit of both parties. To support your category and negotiation strategies, you acquire a comprehensive fact base to challenge suppliers and systematically identify cost-saving opportunities through commercial, specification, and scope optimizations. Ideally, you have previously contributed to the successful delivery of large-scale CAPEX projects. You are convinced that working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment does not only drive value, it also is a source of energy and satisfaction for you as a manager. You have proven, at the same time, to be able to handle ambiguity while providing structure and guidance to your team.

This position is full-time employment and will include traveling to our key project sites and to suppliers (mainly in Europe).

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
