Job Description

Join a global team that is responsible for shaping one of Vaimo’s most critical client processes - the Discovery!

Vaimo executes big, complex technology projects. A strong start is critical. Every project starts with a Discovery of what the client thinks they need, and each Discovery ends with a set of definitions and documents (“Discovery outputs”) that empower our delivery teams to successfully deliver the project.

In this role you will shape and control the quality of these Discovery outputs. You will need to pursue regular feedback from our delivery teams, and our clients, and use this feedback to make the outputs better and better and better.

You are not directly responsible for every Discovery. Rather, you are responsible for certain global, underlying processes and rituals that lead to a world-class Discovery output.

Your team includes a head of strategy, a head of UX/CX, and a head of solution consulting. You work alongside these roles, but you represent the project managers and engineers (“the delivery teams”) who are actually responsible for successfully delivering the project.

How will I know when I've done a good job?

Some important metrics include (but are not limited to):

  • Our delivery teams are extremely satisfied with the quality of the Discovery outputs , and feel empowered to succeed at solution implementation.

  • The scope of the implementation project is crystal clear, and provides a solid foundation for the project manager to control scope and budget. Which ultimately leads to success!

  • Our clients are extremely satisfied with the Discovery and its outcomes (measured through NPS)

  • Our discovery teams are all using the same templates, tools and standards - and think that these things are great!

  • Our templates, tools, standards and processes become more standardised, allowing us to focus on the client (rather than worrying about whether we are using the right template)

  • You have created a framework for getting feedback from the delivery teams and the client that ultimately results in improvements to the Discovery.

The role

This is a senior role. Collaborating with a highly experienced, global team, you will shape and develop Vaimo's global Discovery programme. This means setting the standard for what an excellent Discovery looks like and passionately advocating for the tools, templates and processes that support your vision. You will work across all our country units to advocate and implement the Discovery program, coach local Discovery teams and assess ongoing and delivered Discoveries to raise the standard.

You act as an ambassador for client satisfaction, a customer-centric approach to Discovery, and for the Discovery standard that you expect the rest of the business to maintain.

This role has two main stakeholders - the Global Head of Operations (who is ultimately responsible for Delivery ) and the Global Head of Discovery (who is ultimately responsible for Discovery ). The reason for this is that it is impossible to separate Discovery from Delivery. Yes, they are two distinct teams but Discovery must serve Delivery (and Delivery must help Discovery evolve by giving meaningful feedback).

At any moment in time, Vaimo is running three to five Discoveries across our 15+ country units. You will work with and coach every country unit in the Group, but your “home base” will be the global operations team that supports all country units. You will be required to actively participate in 2 to 3 Discoveries a year, so that you have on-the-ground experience of what this process is like (so you can improve it).

Since this is a global role, you should expect 25-30 travel-days per year. Mainly within Northern Europe.

Each year, Vaimo delivers countless digital commerce solutions to brands, retailers and manufacturers all over the globe. Examples include complex eCommerce solutions for one of Europe’s biggest hardware chains, or a product information system (PIM) for the company behind a world-renowned series of children’s books.

Each of these solutions starts with a process called Discovery. This is a client-facing and internal process. The objective is for Vaimo to discover what the client thinks they need, and for Vaimo to start shaping a solution that meets that need. It is our first interaction with a client, and the means by which we “discover” their ambitions, goals, challenges and priorities. It is fast paced, typically involves multiple stakeholders, and is extremely engaging.

A solution Discovery is typically followed by the solution delivery/implementation.

Vaimo refers to all of its global Discovery initiatives as Vaimo’s Discovery program.

Vaimo is looking for a Global Head of PMO for Discovery to help us with our mission of being a world leader in digital commerce and experience.

This is a new role in our Global Group organisation and you’ll be an instrumental part of forming how we engage with, and deliver value to, our clients in this stage of helping them reach success in the digital commerce landscape.

Skills & Requirements

We believe you are already a senior consultant , with at least 5 to 10 years experience in consulting to senior decision makers, and C-level executives. Your skills should include:

  • Experience working with, or consulting on, SaaS products. This could include commerce platforms like Adobe Commerce, Salesforce, Hybris, ATG, or customer experience platforms like Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), or product information systems (PIM) like Akeneo or InRiver, or ERP systems.

  • Experience in leading Discovery-type projects and teams

  • An outstanding facilitator who can lead complex discussions involving multiple stakeholders, often remotely

  • Extremely strong presentation skills

  • An ability to unite and engage people around a project, concept, or direction

  • A great listener

  • Energetic, and easily fascinated by how different businesses work
