  • Developing lithium-ion battery for Energy Storage, Electric Vehicles, and other applications
  • Developing and Improvement basic composition design of Electrode for lithium-ion battery
  • Evaluating the basic physical property and the fundamental performance of Electrode
  • Electrode design included support and managing the R&D Labs scale.

Process Design/Development:

Improvement and expansion for the process are highly demanded. Electrode team are establishing new electrode process and introducing new material. The process engineer will perform experiment in small scale to mid-scale to specify requirement for electrode equipment improvement. The individual is expected to:

  • Work in Västerås Labs with operators onsite to understand current problems and define improvement items. 25% of work time onsite.
  • Utilize existing equipment hardware and software as much as possible to reduce downtime and duration of installation.
  • Create experiment plans, share the plans to stakeholders, conduct experiment and share result to related divisions.

  • Align with automation (software) engineers, vendors, and stakeholders of existing infrastructures to create specification for large scale improvement.

  • Support commissioning of new coating functions onsite at Västerås Labs, Skellefteå factory and other future giga factories.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish new processes such as slurry, coating, slitting, calendaring mainly at Västerås Labs
  • Expand new process which is established in Västerås Labs to mass production lines, such as Skellefteå Ett factory.
  • Define specification for electrode equipments to implement new process.
  • Define specification for new process and equipment for factory expansion.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
