Northvolt has exciting career opportunities for lead process engineers within Welding, Adhesives & Sealants, and Assembly Solutions to join our bold Manufacturing Engineering team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in developing a new generation of battery system and building a large scale European battery factory. The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for overall process engineering activities within a project, including the planning of activities, definition of the process, creating the process development plan and generation of process specifications that ultimately deliver a capable, repeatable process in the factory.

About the team
The manufacturing engineering team consists of over 60 engineers, based in Stockholm supporting our ESS and Industrial expansion plans for battery systems. We are a highly motivated engineering team, passionate about our mission for electrification and adept at working with extremely challenging requirements.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide guidance and technical direction to the process engineering team.
  • Assign tasks, and coordinates team members to deliver process engineering deliverables.
  • Identifies, collaborates, and solves process related concerns.

Process Engineering Deliverables

  • Development and optimisation of new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Generate process specifications.
  • Characterize processes, define critical parameters, and establish controls that allow measurement of process capability and monitoring of process performance.
  • Define process development plan
  • Execute DOE’s to optimise process conditions and improve output
  • Ownership and drive development of the PFMEA

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials or related subject.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience within new product and process development.
  • 3+ years of experience leading, guiding and mentoring.
  • Familiar with Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability, Process Control, Design for Manufacturability & Assembly and QA troubleshooting tools.
  • Successful track record of leading process development projects in prototype and production environment.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in battery manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Polish, Swedish, German, Chinese)
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
