Technical Project Manager Northvolt Germany

Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a (Senior) Technical Project Manager to join our bold Northvolt Drei team based in Hamburg/Heide, Germany. You will be at the frontline of designing and integrating process technology for our Gigafactory in the North of Germany by overseeing the development and installation of highly specialized battery manufacturing equipment with respect to timeline and budget.

About the job:

Having intimate knowledge of project interdependencies, the delivery scope of the TPM includes requirements management, acquisition and vendor selection, contract ownership, technical reviews, validation and acceptance testing, commissioning, production hand-over as well as ensuring safety and certification approvals are met with the right quality. Your responsibilities will include effectively communicating and presenting the status of projects, identifying schedule risks, and creating contingency plans in case of any project delays. Most importantly, you will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to finding straightforward, foundational solutions for any merging efficiency and quality challenges.

Your journey includes strong collaboration with worldwide suppliers and cross functional NV teams in Västerås, Sweden, including times of learning and further improving your skills and competences in this location. You will be part of our international delivery team being incubated in Sweden and moving with the to be installed equipment into Heide, Germany. In your role you have the unique opportunity to focus on deploying the next generation of high-volume battery manufacturing equipment following its life cycle from design and development during and after purchase order through FAT at supplier site to installation and commissioning until start of production and even beyond.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for a strategic subset of the Drei factory program throughout all phases of the project – Basic and detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Startup
  • Managing Project teams (Design, Procurement, Process, Construction, and Automation) and Northvolt partners (integrators, installation partners, ...), facilitating communication and clarification of technical requirements, and monitoring schedule and costs
  • Interface management (between CSA, MEP, Clean & Dry room, and equipment installation)
  • Planning and coordination of basic and detailed engineering design. Flag issues early which could impact schedule and costs and put actions in place to mitigate
  • Monitor Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental performance

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Master of science in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science or equivalent
  • Extensive project leadership experience in dynamic industrial environments
  • Experience in industrialization projects, machine/ equipment concepts
  • Profound technical expertise in production facilities and utilities
  • Excellent English written and oral skills
  • Strong skills in communication and stakeholder management
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to apply logical thinking to resolve faults and issues with appropriate corrections and measures
  • Focus on quality and getting delivery first time right
  • Ability to guide the team in time management, and the attitude to foster a productive and passionate culture. Agile mindset and experience in methodology beneficial
