Northvolt has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Manager to join our growing Construction team and support the construction of our Northvolt Ett Factory in Skellefteå. We are looking for a self-driven, technically competent, and savvy manager to join our in-house construction design and engineering team. In joining us you will play an important role in building some of the first large scale European battery factories and in the transition to a carbon-free society.

This position offers the overall responsibility to develop and optimise the Mechanical design for the all blocks at the Northvolt Ett factory in Skellefteå. Leading and being responsible for a team of technical project managers and design engineers dedicated to each block. Main technical area of focus will be on HVAC systems and general utilities such as chilled water, heating and potable water.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and balancing of internal and external resources
  • Responsible for total site construction mechanical design
  • Leading the review and approval of the Mechanical technical solutions together with the mechanical technical project managers/design engineers
  • Ensuring the delivery of project deliverables on time and to budget
  • Collaborating with the blueprint team on Northvolt Ett’s factory mechanical design
  • Mentoring and coaching of the junior mechanical engineers
  • Reviewing and approval of Northvolt mechanical quality documentation

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Mechanical engineering
  • Experience in design of all HVAC disciplines preferably from large scale process projects
  • Experience with design of heat pumps, chillers, district heating and process piping
  • Experience in leading design work from concept stage to issue for construction drawings
  • Knowledge of Swedish/European regulations and norms
  • Fluency in English
  • Computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project)
  • Experience with, and motivated to, setting up work methods and procedures from scratch, work with process evaluation and documentation
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Advanced Manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Navis work.
