About Heart Aerospace

Heart’s mission is to create the fastest, most affordable and sustainable mode of transport for regional travel. Our goal is to serve the market in every corner of the world.

Our first aircraft is the ES-19, a nineteen-passenger airliner with an operating range of 400 km. The ES-19 is a fully electric aircraft, and our goal is to have the aircraft certified for commercial operation by 2026.

Your place of work will be at our main office and hangar facility. This is located at Säve Airport in Gothenburg, Sweden. Relocation assistance can be provided. At Heart you’ll be working at the cutting edge of technology while contributing towards a sustainable future. We offer stock options to all our employees and a challenging and inspiring work environment.

We seek experienced and skilled professionals to join our small, fast moving team developing a new electric aircraft in Sweden. We’re in a very expansive phase and now is the time to join our team.

Come help us write a new chapter in the history of aviation together.

Role Overview

The Product Configuration Manager reports directly to the Head of Engineering (Chief Engineer). This will include establishing our ways of working, covering all aircraft development and production processes & techniques, including practical and contractual matters at both, the company and program level.

You’ll be defining milestones/goals, incrementally configuring & controlling the aircraft level design, along with resolving problems in conjunction with engineering groups, manufacturing, supply chain and quality assurance. You’ll also work with the operational excellence team to translate business requirements into lean, state-of-the-art product configuration policies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable creation of company products. This role will initially be a hands-on experience, but has the opportunity to expand to leading a small team of configuration managers.

You will also:

  • Manage the aircraft configuration – covering the full scope of structures, interiors, systems installation and all systems equipment coming from our suppliers/partners.

  • Defining & cascading aircraft level policies for design configuration management, configuration recording & control and change management for internal and external utilization.

  • Ensure that the bi-directional communication link and flow of data from design and production organizations robustly meets the regulatory (EASA Part 21 Subpart J and Subpart G) requirements whilst striving to continuously improve in line with Opex initiatives.

  • Drive the development and implementation of operating methods and procedures to eliminate bottlenecks, problems, improve product quality and efficiency.

  • Define and develop the customization and modification batching policies in line with the Chief Engineer, Head of Program Management and Head of Production Operations.

  • Co-define and develop the post-certification modification procedure with the Chief Engineer and Head of Airworthiness & Certification.

  • Establish Change Board and Chair/Oversee Change Board Reviews on behalf of the Chief Engineer.

  • Create and maintain the program configuration management plan in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and Head of Program Management.

  • Development of aircraft level configuration documents/reports, supporting configuration status & verification and certification activities.

HEARTHEART

GREENAir travel accounts for 2% of global CO2 emissions, and that share is expected to rise to 12-27% by 2050. 40% of worldwide emissions are from short-haul flights. Electric aircraft are the solution. These planes have zero operational emissions, and the lowest infrastructural footprint of all modes of regional transport.

ACCESSIBLEWe believe air travel should be integrated into–not seperated from–our towns and communities. Our zero-emissions, low-noise aircraft can operate on 750m runways, making new use of the vast network of small airports close to city centres.

COST-EFFICIENTElectrification changes the equation for regional air travel. Electric aircraft are affordable to buy, operate and maintain. Simple, reliable electric motors reduce maintenance costs by 90% compared to turboprops, and intelligent electronic monitoring reduces inspection needs. Most importantly, fuel costs go down by 50-75%.
