We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Solution Architect to drive the architectural vision and strategy of our evolving software and services platform. This role is critical in guiding the transformation of our legacy systems into modern, modular solutions that leverage AWS managed services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing new cloud applications, transitioning legacy systems, and creating independent solutions that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
You will report to the CTO and be part of the Technology Management Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Strategy & Vision:
Lead the architectural design and development of new applications and services, focusing on creating modular, API-driven solutions. Evaluate and make decisions on whether to extend existing legacy systems or develop new, independent solutions based on business requirements, technical debt, and future scalability. Create a roadmap for phasing out legacy systems and transitioning to new architectures that are cloud-native and leverage AWS managed services.
Technical Leadership:
Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring best practices in design, coding, testing, and deployment are followed. Drive architectural discussions and decisions, promoting a culture of innovation and technical excellence. Advocate for and implement design patterns, principles, and practices that support scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
AWS & Cloud Integration:
Leverage AWS managed services to architect solutions that are cost-effective, scalable, and highly available. Design and implement API gateways, microservices, serverless functions, and other cloud-native architectures. Ensure data is managed effectively across services, with a focus on security, compliance, and performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure architectural alignment with business goals. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, providing clear and concise arguments for architectural decisions. Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and monitoring of new services. Collaborate with our Platform team to ensure that our solutions runs smoothly on our well architected AWS platform
Legacy System Transition:
Analyze existing systems and databases to identify opportunities for refactoring, re-architecting, or replacing components. Develop strategies for migrating data and functionality from legacy systems to new architectures with minimal disruption to operations. Ensure that new solutions are designed to be independent, own their own data, and are accessible through well-defined APIs.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software architecture and cloud computing. Continuously evaluate and improve existing architectures, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency, scalability, and security.
