We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our company, working in a dynamic team in Distribution Innovation. This role is crucial in maintaining and upgrading systems related to newspaper printing plants and mid-mile distribution.
The ability to work independently and take initiative is essential, alongside strong collaborative skills. You will be required to work onsite in the office, with the possibility for home office ensuring smooth coordination and communication.
Our technology stack includes Java and Python for backend development, React and React Native for frontend and mobile applications and Terraform CDK for Infrastructure as Code. All running on AWS as our cloud provider. We are looking for someone who can thrive in this environment and effectively contribute while being open to learning and adapting to new technologies as needed.

Skills & Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in Java development.
  • Familiarity with older versions of Java (Java 7/8 or earlier) is a significant advantage.
  • Experience working with complex domains such as mid-mile distribution, is highly valued.
  • Fluency in Norwegian is essential for collaborating with local team members.
  • Good English proficiency is required, as we work with consultants and colleagues across Europe.

Independency & Teamwork:

  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks is crucial. You must be proactive and self-driven in identifying solutions, managing your own workflow, and delivering high-quality work without close supervision.
  • At the same time, strong team collaboration is key, and you must be comfortable working onsite, communicating effectively with colleagues to ensure the smooth functioning of the distribution systems.
  • You will among other things be working on upgrading and improving legacy code tied to printing plants and distribution networks, ensuring efficient and reliable processes in print media logistics.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for sharing technical insights and collaborating with both local and international team members.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in distribution or logistics systems is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with upgrading and refactoring older Java code to improve performance and maintainability.
  • A proactive mindset and ability to balance independent work with team collaboration.
  • Experience in Java, and familiarity with Python and Go for backend development.
  • Experience with React for front-end development and React Native for mobile applications.
  • Experience with AWS as the cloud provider.
  • Knowledge of Terraform CDK for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
