Smart Eye is looking for an HR Manager for our US operations, based in our Boston office. In this role, you will be on the HR front line for 40+ employees on a mission to radically improve automobile safety and provide Human Insight AI to the world. You will join a global HR team based out of Gothenburg, Sweden with peers in Cairo, Egypt and smaller offices around the world.

You will own critical HR functions including employee development, benefits management and hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Own the US-based HR function, reporting to the GM of Affectiva - US, and covering both the Boston and Detroit area offices.
  • Lead hiring efforts for all US-based hiring. Partner with hiring managers to make excellent and timely hires. Manage external recruiters as needed. Collaborate with the marketing team on “marketing for hiring.”
  • Lead efforts to define what our post-COVID office will look like and what our updated Work From Home policy should be. How hybrid will we be? How does this effect our office space? Seek input from employees to help shape our policies.

  • Manage all benefits for US employees, including medical, dental, 401(k) etc. This includes annual policy review and renewals, employee communication and day-to-day help desk inquiries with assistance from our benefits broker.

  • Lead employee professional development, career advancement and retention programs/efforts. Partner with managers and executives to create a world class employee development program, which takes advantage of the many career opportunities at a fast-growing AI company.

  • Implement employee assessment / development programs inside the Global HR framework. Make key contributions to the enhancement of this framework.

  • Shape and implement our immigration policy. Working with immigration counsel, guide employees through their visa, green card and permanent status application processes.

  • Working with executive management and the Global Head of HR, create, communicate and document all HR policies such as vacation, COVID-19 procedures, WFH policy and the like. Document policies in our employee handbook.

  • Operate, maintain and improve our HRIS system, Namely.

  • Implement programs, events and activities to create a vibrant, collaborative and positive culture. Devise a mechanism to track employee morale and communicate with key stakeholders on findings and next steps.

  • Participate in the development of transatlantic exchange programs where team members get to temporarily work with different teams in different locations.

Skills & Requirements

Requirements

  • BA, B. Sc. or equivalent degree or experience.
  • 5+ years in US-based HR.
  • Experience with all HR aspects of the US immigration process.
  • HR Experience with an international firm is highly desirable.
  • Experience administering a full-featured & competitive benefits plan, especially with medical insurance.
  • Experience in high tech HR working with and recruiting R&D personnel.

  • Experience working on integration and retention following an acquisition is desirable.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including using platforms like Slack.

  • Collaborative work style

  • Great interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust and convey empathy.
