Northvolt‘s journey started in Västerås, Sweden with Northvolt Labs, a prototyping factory already in operation. The first phase of giga-factory - Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå is about to start manufacturing, while further expansion project has already kicked off. In Poland we have just broken ground on which a new Northvolt Systems assembly plan will be constructed. In joining us you will play an important part from the very start, building the landscape of first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play a significant role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

We have an awesome job offer for a Senior Category Manager to join our excellent and passionate team at Northvolt in Gdańsk or Stockholm. As key player in the Planning and Logistics Team you will have the opportunity to design and procure a sustainable portfolio of logistics vendors, securing Northvolt’s successful growth in Sweden, Poland, Germany and beyond.

Your primary assignment will be to drive design and procurement of transportation and logistical services (3PL/4PL) . Together with project and operational teams you will collect business requirements, draft and run the sourcing, tendering and negotiation process, ending in nomination of successful LSPs and vendors.

Having nominated a portfolio of service providers, you will carry on and manage the relationship with the LSPs and vendors, including their performance. You will, as well, be the primary point of contact for all new and potential suppliers within your category.

We:

In broad terms and without going into too much detail, Team Logistics and Planning looks after everything that moves or needs to be stored. Before it does, we also need to do quite a bit of planning, but that's a separate story.

Our job is:

  • to support Northvolt’s mission, growth and expansion with quality planning and logistics design
  • to build a scalable operational and organisational framework, within which Northvolt units execute and
  • to enable a sustainable, resilient and efficient supply chain

You:

First and foremost - you are a supply chain professional at heart. You understand the primary importance of quality of service that logistics delivers to the organisation and its customers. Ideally, in addition to procurement, you had the opportunity to be a part of the operational environment where you realised what execution of a contracted service means in real life. Thanks to this you also understand very well the cost drivers in logistics.

Your procurement assignments have allowed you to master the process of preparation, running, negotiating and closing a competitive tendering process with the best provider awarded.
Ideally, you have had a chance to experience all of the above in an environment of very quick growth, where not always are you in possession of all the information you'd wish for and where data at hand may be incomplete.
At Northvolt, we grow like hell. Having shipped only parcels just 3 years ago, we will very soon move tens of thousands of container loads per annum, across various geographies.

It's pretty amazing, right?

Together with the Team, in your job you will:

  • liaise with colleagues and stakeholders to gather all relevant business requirement information necessary for a successful procurement process
  • create market transparency and successfully scout and source for suitable vendors and service providers
  • secure deep market insight in your categories
  • draft, run and finalise RFx processes within:
    • global, regional and local transportation across all modes but with focus on road freight
    • warehousing
    • 3PL/4PL services (incl. co-manufacturing and repacking activities)
    • heavy handling
    • packaging and handling materials
  • run periodical rate and adjustment factor reviews
  • manage the relationship and performance of nominated LSPs and vendors (annual reviews, QBRs and the likes)
  • continuously improve overall Northvolt operations

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
