We are looking for a mid-level Backend Software Engineer to join a team focused on bringing accurate People & Audience metadata to our Knowledge Graph as well as detecting inconsistencies over time by means of data science workflows. Knowledge Graph serves as the single source-of-truth and entity-centric view of all the linked data within Meltwater.

You will join a very dynamic and diverse group of software engineers coming from various parts of the world! We are working fully remote at the moment but do meet in our Berlin office occasionally to catch up in person.

We build solutions powered by Docker, Drone, PostgreSQL, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Elasticsearch. Our choice of languages is Java/Kotlin and Ruby (legacy). Our applications are deployed in the AWS cloud with Kubernetes being our favorite deployment target. We take great pride in making data-driven decisions and having a DevOps mindset.

A degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification
Strong knowledge of Java/Kotlin
Knowledge of AWS services and cloud deployment
DevOps mindset with an enthusiasm for deployment automation / infrastructure-as-code
Experience with Relational and NoSQL databases as well as ElasticSearch
Experience with Kafka and/or broker-based architectures is a plus
Experience with Kubernetes is a plus
Experience with building and running applications in production
Enthusiasm for Microservices architecture and distributed systems
Exposure to ML and specifically NLP is a plus
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and a demonstrated ability to find creative solutions to technical problems
Fluent in English (don’t know German? no problem!)
