Northvolt Systems, Northvolt’s business unit developing and manufacturing battery systems, is looking for a Senior Program Manager for its grid scale energy storage business (ESS).

Northvolt Systems has launched two years ago the development of a new energy storage system using Northvolt’s battery cells, targeting the stationary energy storage market. The primary application is to enable a faster growth of renewable energy, by providing a green and reliable solution to store energy produced by solar and wind, and contribute to Northvolt’s vision to enable the future of energy.

This product, developed in partnership with one of Northvolt’s customers, is at the forefront of the industry with high energy density, compliance with the highest safety standards and the lowest carbon footprint.

The production will begin at the end of 2022 in Northvolt’s new factory in Poland and will ramp-up to 5 GWh/ year of production by 2024.

We are looking for a talented program manager to lead the development, validation and certification activities of the product.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Activity planning and coordination
  • Governance (team’s structure and way of working, meeting cadence)
  • Monitoring of progress vs plan, and implementation of sprints when necessary
  • Quality management, including adhesion to the product development process and organization of regular design reviews
  • Budget and resource planning
  • Change management
  • Interface with the customers

You will lead a team of 50+ engineers (mechanical, thermal electrical, electronics, software), supply chain specialists, test engineers and technicians, cost engineer. You will work in duo with a Technical Lead who will be responsible to lead the engineering work.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have

  • A university degree, preferably in Engineering or Business
  • PMI certification or MBA a plus
  • Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience post graduate. Has worked on several projects, ideally in similar business area: battery modules and packs, or more broadly the industrialization of new product for application in automotive or industrial machinery
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
  • Working experience either in Technical Project Management, Engineering or Operations
  • Has experience in working in a multicultural environment (e.g. working in international teams, international projects etc)

Specific skills

  • Experienced in product development processes including product roadmaps, requirements traceability management (verification / validation), safety certifications
  • Working with customer-oriented projects used to being the link between the customer and Northvolt to address technical scope and issues
