Senior Game Programmer / Technical Lead (Slingshot Studio)

  • Application Deadline: Aug. 15, 2017
  • Espoo

Welcome to Rovio!

We are looking for a Senior Game Programmer to join our successful Slingshot Studio in Espoo, Finland.

Rovio’s Slingshot Studio is the place where wildly successful games such as Angry Birds and Angry Birds Friends are hatched. Our games have been downloaded billions of times, and are played by millions of highly engaged players worldwide. As we develop the next big Angry Birds game to take the world by storm, we seek to build and inspire talented teams to craft the best games for our players.

This is a senior role at the studio, and while we are more than happy to help diverse candidates make the step up, you will need some mixture of experience, aptitude and passion in four key areas.

You’ll need vision. We need someone to help define the technical vision for our games. You will work with a team of talented engineers to help developing great solutions and improve our technical capabilities continuously. You must develop own competence in the technology domain beyond your current expertise.

You’ll need to ensure consistency and quality. Rovio is well known for making games with genuinely world-class production values. You need to take responsibility for ensuring that our studio is producing work of the absolute highest quality, and making sure the vision is consistent. You will communicate with other teams in the company, ensuring the technical alignment with all parts of the implementation.

You’ll need to make stuff. In our studio everybody is expected to roll their sleeves and get their hands dirty, so you will need to be comfortable developing games and features, deploying services and supporting operations when needed, helping us to move quickly during different phases of development.

You want to coach and elevate your team. You will be the team lead for our studio talented programmers and will help attract and recruit new talent for the studio. You get joy out of bringing out the best in people and seeing them grow and become even better. You will contribute actively in developing ways-of working.

But more than anything, we want someone who wants to be part of a great, diverse team and help create a fantastic culture that makes amazing games.
