We are building a state-of-the-art facility and a world-class team of technologists for R&D into next-generation battery cells, and we need your help in making it happen. If you are experienced and passionate about battery design, this opportunity as a Cell Design Engineer is for you.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, create, implement, and optimize designs for several types of next-generation Li-ion cells.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate test data to improve cell and electrode properties. Use data to drive cycles of learning and improvement in cell design.
  • Introduce and evaluate new materials that will improve energy density, cycle life, and safety.
  • Develop physicochemical characterization techniques to determine performance correlation between physical properties and composition.
  • Work closely with the Cell Integration team and other cross-functional stakeholders to make sure the final product meets immediate technical goals and long-term manufacturability requirements.
  • Personally invest in creating an inclusive, collaborative working environment with teammates from all over the globe. Help onboard new teammates with clear communication, shared goals, and mutual trust.

Skills & Requirements

Education and experience

  • A relevant university degree in chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience within the battery sector.
  • Has participated in large-scale R&D projects involving technical depth across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience working with DOE (design of experiment) activities and large datasets. Ability to make statistically-informed inferences from experimental data and translate them into cell design improvements.
  • Experience in material and electrochemical characterization and analysis.
  • Experience in a similar position, or practical experience from battery cell design is a big plus.

Specific skills

  • Excellent English written and oral skills. Swedish is a plus.
  • Eager to learn and understand our large-scale production processes.
  • Highly organized and results-driven. Proactive in solving problems and anticipating setbacks.
  • Brings a “can do” attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit to day-to-day work.
  • Open to travel.
