About Media Translator
As a Media Translator, you will be responsible for translating and summarizing information for our clients across industries in Greater China, for instance, ASUS, Philip Morris, Breadtalk, Bulgari, Fosun Pharma, Hays, Nokia, Peking University, Linefriends, Neusoft, SUEZ, Warner Brother and many more. You will have the opportunity to work on insight-based reports.
You will get a glimpse of the very first-hand business news and media insights, 360-degree view of what is going on in multiple industries from local state-owned companies to large multinational firms. You will also have the chance to shine on top-tier clients, influence experiences that touch millions, and grow their analytics competency that is defining cutting-edge branding and consumer analytics. Also you will always be in market trends and staying abreast in the digital market arena!
You will be closely working with your Translator peers and Client Success team to identify clients’ needs and provide best in class service to ensure clients understand their “Outside Insights”.
A typical day of a Media Translator:
-Utilize Meltwater platforms to curate newsletters, including both mainstream news sites and social channels (WeChat, Weibo, Facebook, Twitter, Blog, etc.)
-Summarize, translate, research, and proofread for Client’s reports
-Maintain, update internal & external guidelines, glossaries; participate in client meetings/calls to help present Meltwater’s content curation and translation methodology when necessary
What we would like to see from you
Bachelor Degree or above, Major in Translation, Linguistics, English Literature, Language or related field is preferred
At least 1 year of English-Chinese translation working experience of in-house or agency side, preferably in the field of media or PR agency
Strong ability to precisely translate documents, articles and news with maximal fluency and professional demeanour, free of errors, literal translations and cumbersome expressions that are directly transferred
Good command of English & Mandarin (spoken and written); excellent communication skills with ability to communicate with a diverse set of clients and colleagues, at all levels
Ability to manage multiple projects, and juggle a diverse workload
Ability to work on translation-based newsletters and media reports
Ability to handle pressure when delivering to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Have a ‘can‐do’ attitude, positive mindset and always be a challenge taker
Inquisitive mind and passionate at media and business
Attention to detail, commitment to work
Approachable and credible personality who inspires trust in clients, internal stakeholders and team
Basic skills in MS Office (esp. PowerPoint and Excel)
