Working pattern: Flexible home working up to three days per week

Salary range: £35,000 - £38,000 GBP / $47,000 - $50,000 USD per annum (pro-rated to part-time hours)

Start Date: January 2022: three to six months fixed-term contract

General Summary

Are you an experienced digital marketeer with deep knowledge of publishing fiction in the US and Canada? Bonnier Books UK is looking for a freelance marketing manager to deliver on the strategy and plans for our key brand authors in these core regions.

As a resourceful and commercially savvy marketeer, you will have a track record of building successful direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns and will use this experience to inform the brand strategy in the US and Canada.

You will create and execute multi-channel digital marketing campaigns for all upcoming publications and look for ways to broaden our authors’ readership in the US across both frontlist and backlist. You will be creative, commercially minded and action-oriented, and adept at using data to inform decisions and deliver results.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the brand marketing manager to set and deliver on the strategy for our two key brand authors in the US and Canada.
  • Build and strengthen readership around those author brands in the US and Canada through a primarily digital focussed campaign.
  • Plan, execute and optimise pre-order and publication campaigns via all key digital channels for our authors’ upcoming titles.
  • Plan, execute and optimise backlist marketing campaigns, including but not limited to seasonal and price promotions.
  • Monitor competitor authors, market trends and identify audience building opportunities to grow readership for our key brand authors across formats and channels in the US and Canada.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Deep knowledge of crime and historical fiction publishing in the US.
  • Proven ability to create and deliver on strategic marketing and brand building campaigns, capable of driving strong sales and ROI.
  • Skilled in audience development to grow online channels and communities.
  • Extensive experience of all digital book marketing and social media platforms including Amazon marketing, Goodreads and Netgalley.
  • Proven ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Effective copy writer.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and with teams internationally.
  • Impeccable communication skills.
