Scandic Destination Nordkapp is back in business and we’re hiring in all departments for the 2022 summer season.

The destination includes Scandic Bryggen, a small intimate boutique hotel; Scandic Honningsvåg, a well-known landmark in Norway’s northernmost town and Nordkapphallen, the visitor center at the very top of Europe – the North Cape Plateau.

As Head Chef at Nordkapphallen you will be leading a team of between 10 to 15 team members. You will be in charge of managing the operations in the department – ensuring the quality, efficiency and level of service while motivating your team.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • General personnel duties including shift lists
  • Training and developing your team
  • Quality control
  • Follow-up on best practices regarding the use of industrial chemicals
  • Follow-up regarding cleaning and sanitation routines
  • Stocktaking and ordering food and supplies
  • Follow-up and training in HACCP and Internal Control Food routines

In addition you will be responsible for developing menus, creating great food experiences and reducing food waste.

You will be hands-on in the operation, working closely with the Restaurant Manager and Booking department, while reporting to the Operations Manager. The position is partly administrative and partly operational.

Skills & Requirements

Because Scandic Destination Nordkapp welcomes visitors and team members from all over the world, all our team members must speak and write English. Skills in any Scandinavian language are preferred. Please note any additional language skills in your application.

All positions are subject to national, local and company restrictions for infection control.

All our team members involved in preparing food must adhere to the highest organizational, hygiene, health and safety standards. It is also required that you show the necessary competence and knowledge of catering to varying dietary requirements.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is required
  • Passionate about great food and memorable experiences
  • Certificate of apprenticeship or similar as Chef
  • Enjoy and thrive in a hectic environment
  • Calm, precise and organized
  • Flexible and a great leader

This position is seasonal with startup from early May until late September 2022. The position will also require work on evenings, weekends and public holidays.
