Ymer Technology is a multi-award winning, fast growing company with facilities in Europe, China and the USA. We are seeking a Category Manager to lead a cross functional team for a business-critical category. Located in Silkeborg, you will play a key role in influencing the continued growth of Ymer Technology through supplier innovation and the pursuit of the lowest total cost.


  • Lead the development and implementation of the category strategy, securing input and ownership in the cross functional category team

  • Lead the supplier selection process with the cross functional team including identify potential suppliers, analyzing supplier capabilities, selecting suppliers and determine prices, terms, and conditions of agreements. Owner of RFx process (RFI, RFQ), ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented

  • Secure lowest Total Landed Cost together with your Category Management Team – bringing in key preferred suppliers.

  • Manage supplier relationships and performance, to secure suppliers seen as an asset supporting total cost reduction and innovation

  • Risk Management: Secure proactive risk management, identifying risks and activating proactive activities to secure Ymer’s leading position

  • Secure proactive supplier engagement on initiatives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Innovation

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering or equivalent or evidence of exceptional ability
  • Commercially strong, business oriented and a relationship builder
  • Ability to make quick decisions with 80% information while effectively bringing in stakeholders
  • Strong analytical capabilities combined with good project management skills
  • Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision
  • Open-minded, collaborative and team-driven
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Your professional background:

  • You are experienced (5 years+) in procurement and supply chain within a leading manufacturing company or consultancy company having worked on supply chain projects
  • You have a proven ability to successfully lead cross functional teams and strategic initiatives
  • You have a global mindset and are fluent in English

You are driven to carry out activities to achieve set goals. Your drive helps you work independently while you attach high importance to cooperation with your closest colleagues, suppliers, as well as across the value chain. You have a holistic view of the business and a ‘can do’ attitude

Travel expected to be approximately 30-40 days a year.
