We are now opening an opportunity for experienced Cell Development Managers to lead the teams crafting advanced battery solutions for the booming energy storage and automotive market. Ideally, you would have world-class expertise and long-standing experience in development of Lithium-ion battery cells working for a Tier 1 cell manufacturer or a Tier 1 Automotive OEM in the field of battery cell development.

You should possess a strong business sense and excellent communication skills as you will provide leadership over a network of technology development partners, innovative technology companies, and with our internal cell development team to plan and execute a collaborative development program with tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the team developing Morrow’s cell product until it is highly optimised for volume manufacturing, delivering world-class safety, performance and quality.
  • Track performance of projects and communicate status, decisions, milestones, schedule, budget and risks.
  • Establish strong relationships with our external strategic partners, and drive forward collaborative development ensuring timely delivery and performance.
  • Plan resources including process, equipment and personnel.
  • Conduct studies of various parallel material and technology workstreams to continuously enhance the performance of the products.
  • Manage a team to model the performance, size, and weight of advanced battery cells from material level inputs to improve performance, reduce cost, support system engineering, and guide strategic decisions.

Skills & Requirements

Skills and requirements

  • 5 or more years of cell designing experience for lithium-ion batteries.
  • Proven ability to guide complex projects and form cohesive, high-performing teams.
  • Direct experience in product, process and equipment development from initial prototype to mass production stage is preferred.
  • Experience in working with external vendors and contractors to develop and qualify advanced battery cell designs.
  • Familiarity with current state of the art production processes applicable to lithium rechargeable cells with novel materials knowledge.
  • Experience with applying quality tools to production of lithium-ion batteries including statistical analysis of performance results, process capabilities, and design of experiments.

Education and Experience

  • Master or PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related fields
