We are looking for a dedicated sustainability enthusiast to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent, bold and passionate Sustainability team based in Stockholm.  By joining us, you will be a key player in ramping up our sustainability strategy and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.  

About the job
The thesis student will help us conduct a climate scenario analysis to understand the climate-related risks and opportunities for the business, in line with the TCFD recommendations. You will be working independently with the support from our Sustainability team. Cross-team collaboration will also be necessary. By doing this work, you will be contributing to the long-term success of the company, and helping to drive our low carbon strategy.

About the team

Sustainability is at the core of Northvolt. By joining the Sustainability team you will be a part of a growing team, central to the success of Northvolt. You will be able to contribute towards the development of the world's greenest battery.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Research into climate scenario modelling methodologies
  • Develop an appropriate climate scenario model for the business, based on the outcome of the methodology research
  • Model climate scenarios and the financial and non-financial risks and opportunities under each scenario, working with relevant teams
  • Develop recommendations for the business based on the outcome of the analysis

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, economics, or other relevant university degree 
  • Interest in sustainability and the financial and non-financial impact of climate change on business
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent English written and oral skills 
  • The motivation to take ownership of your own projects
  • Team player mentality
