Job Description

Do you believe the workplace is the best platform to address multiple business challenges and bring about sustainable change? The Swedish Workplace Programme (SWP) in Kenya is looking for a skilled coordinator to join our team in East Africa based in Nairobi. The position reports to the SWP Director for East and Southern Africa based in Sweden and will work closely with colleagues based in South Africa.

The Role

The overall role of the SWP Coordinator is to support SWP operations and activities in Kenya including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. You will be expected to organize periodic country/regional budgets, conducting first level training/workshops, events, and monitoring of activities. This will be done in close co-ordination with private sector actors, companies, unions, government agencies and NGOs.

Skills & Requirements

Required qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in business, management, economics, human resources, social science
  • 5 years of relevant program/project management experience
  • Good knowledge of the Kenyan business community, its opportunities, and challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proven teamwork and people skills
  • Experience from designing and facilitation of workshops
  • Independent and structured approach with a high energy and ability to self-motivate along with a never give-up mentality
  • Excellent English and Swahili (written & spoken)
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Environment


  • Experience from work with business and human rights, change management, employee engagement, conflict management, and occupational health and safety
  • Experience working in a private sector business enterprise
  • Experience and knowledge in labour relations in Kenya.
  • Experience in designing and delivering trainings.

The position is available for immediate commencement. This is a Fixed-term appointment in Nairobi until December 2023, with the possibility of an extension

The position is full-time (40 hours per week). Both regional and international travel will be required (40%) COVID permitting.
