About the job

We are looking for a Senior Renewable Energy Sourcing Expert with a passion for renewable energy and developing innovative contracting solutions. You will be responsible for leading the further development and execution of Northvolt’s energy sourcing strategy, ensuring that we are delivering on our promise to produce our batteries with 100% renewable energy. This includes a holistic responsibility for the origination, negotiation and execution of energy sourcing agreements, portfolio management, and reporting. You will be reporting to our Head of Sustainability.

We believe that you have 8+ years experience in wholesale energy market agreement origination and energy agreement management, including renewable energy power purchase agreements. Ideally, you have experience in energy sourcing from an industrial company or other private sector actor.

About the team

Northvolt’s Sustainability & Environment team today consists of 12 professionals committed to defining, operationalizing and enforcing sustainability requirements and roadmaps for the organization to deliver on our mission of World’s Greenest Battery. This includes e.g. supply chain sustainability, environmental projects, environmental permitting, setting standards for Northvolt Green Factories, chemical compliance, sustainability impact assessments and roadmaps, and reporting and policy advocacy.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Global responsibility of renewable energy sourcing across Northvolt's footprint

  • Further development and operationalization of Northvolt’s energy sourcing strategy across Northvolt’s factory footprint, including sourcing of electricity, heating & cooling and energy storage

  • Assisting in factory site selection evaluation and supplier localizations

  • Negotiating and structuring energy transactions that support Northvolt’s commitment to powering our operations with 100% renewable energy

  • Management and reporting of Northvolt’s overall energy contract portfolio & hedging strategies

  • Working closely together with colleagues in the Sustainability & Environment team, Finance, Purchasing, Strategy, and factory organizations

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years experience in wholesale energy market agreement origination and energy agreement management, including renewable energy power purchase agreements
  • Experience in energy sourcing from an industrial company, other private sector actor or consultancy is a big plus
