Do you want to be part of shaping the leading live sports destinations in the Nordics?

Sports team is part of Schibsted Media Product & Technology division and is responsible for VG Live and Aftonbladet Målservice services, as well as Sports data API platform available for internal users. VG Live holds a leading position for live scores and statistics in Norway, on average serving more than 200 000 users every day. Aftonbladet Målservice is aiming for a similar position in Sweden.

As a technical content specialist, you will be a vital part of our tight cross-discipline team of 8 people based in Oslo and Krakow and ensure that our users are getting accurate and timely updates about their favourite matches, teams and players across football, ice hockey and handball. You will have the possibility to apply your sports passion and investigative skills to create one of the most popular and trustworthy live sports websites in Norway and Sweden. This is a one year assignment with a further possibility to be extended into a permanent position.

Here is a taste of what you would be able to work on:

  • Follow up content-related reports and enquiries both from our users and other teams in Schibsted on Slack or e-mail - typical examples include missing team lineup, wrong match venue, incorrect goal scorer, wrong TV channel for a match broadcast.

  • Investigate and get to the bottom of inconsistent content issues by cross checking content on our websites with authoritative sources and data providers’ APIs.

  • Lead a dialogue with external data providers and our engineering team to report, troubleshoot and fix discovered content issues.

  • Use an internally developed content management system to correct content inconsistencies and improve the quality of our data - typical examples include merging duplicate player records, correcting transitions and uploading club logos or player photos.

  • Proactively check the schedule of upcoming matches to spot and correct possible content issues before the users notice them.

  • Keep a close dialogue with customer support and product teams to identify common pain points and possible improvement opportunities.

Required skills:

  • Passion for sports (especially football).

  • Strong content troubleshooting skills - for example, checking service logs or API responses to identify data inconsistency issues.

  • Norwegian and/or Swedish language command (reading and writing).

  • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs as a user.

  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation for API.

  • SQL knowledge would be a plus.

This is a 50% position for a one year contract with a possibility to be extended to a permanent full-time position.
