We are looking for a driven and entrepreneurial Project Manager to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate New Factories Program team based in Stockholm.  By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing and ramping up Northvolt Volvo Cars battery factory.

About the job
As Project Manager in site infrastructure, you work as an integral part of the Northvolt/Volvo project team, interfacing with teams in both Northvolt and Volvo Cars that make up the new joint-venture battery factory the companies are building together.

You will be given the responsibility to manage the site establishment and infrastructure development from concept phase until hand-over to the operational joint-venture. The role puts emphasis on project management skills with strong focus maintaining good progress and schedule. Doing so, you will work cross-functionally cross the business, municipality, and region to deliver your respective projects.

You are expected to build a broad network across both Northvolt and Volvo Cars’ Environmental, Construction, Factory Engineering and Logistics teams to leverage best practices and implement it to the project’s success. The role is based in Stockholm, with frequent (weekly) travel to be expected.

About the team
The New Factories team build up an essential role in Northvolts expansion plan, setting the foundation for all future factories - and there are a few coming. Our everyday job consists of great mix of strategic questions and hands on problem-solving. With a team of 20 (growing to +50), based in Stockholm we look after the Northvolt Blueprint and project-managing all new factories from cradle to handover to project execution team. This position is all about the Northvolt Volvo Cars factory and you will join just after site is selected to set up the fundaments of the project.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • In collaboration with the broader team, build a detailed project plan for Northvolt Volvo Cars JV, establishing vital dependencies to the business (e.g. decision milestones, dependencies into other parts of the factory process design, …)
  • Work closely with the municipality, environmental team, construction team, design team, logistics team and other regional stakeholders to ensure general program activities are followed-up on and closed out
  • Coordinate project resources from Northvolt to ensure project delivery during both the planning and beginning of execution phase
  • Take ownership of and drive interfaces between the technical functions within design development and infrastructure services.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • Engineering degree (B.Sc. / M.Sc. ) or similar
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience, of which at least 3 years with hands-on project leadership experience in demanding environment (such as large scale CAPEX-projects, demanding development projects etc)
  • Track record as project manager driving complex projects, covering both planning/designing phase as well as execution phase
  • Commercial and contract skills
  • Fluency in English

Bonus points for: 

  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Japanese, Swedish, Chinese, French)  
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
