Are you the future of energy?

Our mission is to bring on a brighter future fueled by recyclable, rechargeable batteries made from renewable energy. It’s an extraordinary venture, currently involving thousands of people from countless academic backgrounds.

Join us in a paid 9-week summer internship and work side by side with colleagues from all over the world. Together, let's enable the future of energy!

Working with Process & Equipment at Northvolt:

  • Process Engineering
We are looking for interns to support our process engineering teams.
The role will support the NV Factory in launching new production lines. It will require monitoring processes, carrying commissioning agenda to completion with constant communication with the process engineers and equipment suppliers as well as learning the equipment in order to troubleshoot common problems.

  • Mechanical Engineer for R&D
We are looking for innovative mechanical engineer students with a passion for problem solving and great CAD-skills. Preferably someone that knows how to use Siemens NX, has material knowledge and is aware of manufacturing processes. You will work together with our mechanical engineers to improve design and process at the R&D lab in Västerås. You need to be flexible, innovative and socially capable of working together with several technicians. A understanding of what is "good enough" when it comes to design is also key. We want to execute improvements and projects - not only start them.

  • Mechanical Engineer for Automotive Battery Modules
We are looking for a mechanical engineering student that wants to create real products and components in CAD. You preferably have experience from Siemens NX and love to create something out of nothing. You will also support us in the team with other various tasks that can be needed. Our team in Västerås, Automotive Battery Modules, is small and we all work very close to each other and have a humble and open climate. Our team is right now 50/50 gender balanced and we all have different nationalities. Come join our small friendly team!

  • Equipment Engineer
We are looking for an intern looking to understand how to develop highly automated equipment for our next generation manufacturing lines in Stockholm. You will support activities relating to design, development and equipment validation for manufacturing. You will be involved with equipment suppliers and collaborate with Northvolt's process and factory design teams to efficiently integrate the process and equipment into the factory.

We believe you have:
A BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical/Electrical Background/Manufacturing Engineering, excellent project management skills as well as ability to follow up

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
